Role Summary:
You will run every part of human resources, balancing daily day-to-day work with a longer-term focus on preparing for growth. In this role, you will collaborate closely with leaders to scale our team, support our people, and work directly with the finance team to ensure accurate payroll processing. We need a practical and innovative thinker who can build modern practices and is a supporter to help leaders and employees reach peak performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding
Lead full-lifecycle recruitment for open roles, ensuring candidates experience our values from their very first interaction.
Write engaging job posts, screen talent, conduct interviews, and manage offer processes.
Design a focused, thorough onboarding program that gives new hires the tools they need to succeed from day one. Employee Relations
Serve as a trusted partner and main contact for employee questions, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Evolve performance management into a growth-oriented, innovative process focused on goal setting and achievement.
Guide leadership through disciplinary actions or terminations fairly. Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
Administer health, benefits, and wellness benefit programs, including annual open enrollment.
Research salary data to keep our pay competitive.
Partner closely with the finance department to ensure smooth payroll execution. Compliance & Policies
Keep HR policies up-to-date and clear.
Ensure full compliance with federal and state employment laws (such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO).Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
5+ years of broad HR experience, ideally in a small business, startup, or growing mid-sized company.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certifications: Professional certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of US labor laws, HR technology, and Excel.
Collaboration: Proven ability to partner with finance on payroll and talk clearly with leadership. High situational awareness, great communication skills and discretion with confidential information.
Additional Information:
The role is hybrid in Austin, Texas. Once the office is open (likely South Austin area, near William Cannon), the company will work in the office three days per week.
