School Psychologist The School Psychologist provides a continuum of psychological services that support regular and special educational students. These supports include but are not limited to interventions, evaluations, program planning, and counseling for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral problems.
Job Qualifications
Education: Education Specialist Degree required License: Valid Georgia Certificate School Psychology
Experience: Three (3) years of experience preferred Physical Activity Light lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling Prolonged sitting Knowledge Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with students and administrators Works with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed Demonstrates patience and care for all students Knowledgeable about available resources in the school, district, and community Demonstrates knowledge of a variety of test materials and resources to complete a comprehensive evaluation for students ages 3-21.Demonstrates knowledge of childhood development as well as psychiatric and psychological disorders Can communicate criteria used to determine eligibility for all areas of special education. Duties and Responsibilities: Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently 2. Exhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the School Board, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public 3. Consults with school personnel identifying students who have learning and/or adjustment difficulties 4. Conducts comprehensive, psycho-educational evaluations which include review of records; formal testing/informal testing; observation of the student's functioning in the classroom and other settings to analyze learning and behavior difficulties; interviews with the student, teacher(s), administrators, and/or outside agencies 5. Documents evaluation results and completes required reports within Federal, State, and local timelines and guidelines 6. Consults and communicates with teachers, parents, and school personnel regarding the results of all relative evaluation information and assists school teams in linking evaluative data to appropriate student interventions 7. Provides psychological services through District, department, and school committees attending special education eligibility meetings, assisting with manifestation determinations and discipline reviews 8. Engages with school teams in problem-solving and participates in the decision-making process to determine appropriate services for all students 9. Provides crisis intervention as needed 10. Prioritizes responsibilities and completes evaluations within required timelines 11. Conducts or participates in data collection and evaluation to determine the usefulness and effectiveness of psychological services and various educational programs in the system 12. Adheres to Federal, State, and local guidelines and policies in the provision of School Psychological services 13. Participates on Student Support Teams as an academic and behavioral consultant 14. Supervises school psychology interns as necessary 15. Conducts and/or participates in professional learning for school personnel, parents, and central office staff 16. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Security Clearance: The Glynn County School System requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting on all new employees, including all substitutes and other designated employees.
