A companion is literally "someone who breaks bread with another." ?Café Companions come into Recovery ?Café to listen, to share a meal or a cup of coffee, to be a friend to Cafe members who come here for recovery support. Many Cafe members are either homeless or at risk of homelessness, and many have mental health issues, addiction challenges, or are recovering from trauma. Cafe Companions bring their life experiences to Cafe conversations, and in doing so make our community a more supportive, engaging place for members. Training in how to be a Cafe Companion is provided. Recovery ?Café is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Cafe Companions should be available at least one of those days, during those hours, to be a good fit for the role. Most Companions choose to be at the Cafe 1-2 hours per visit. Being a Companion from 10am to noon lets you chat with the community over morning brunch. 11-1 or noon-12 lets you enjoy lunch in conversation. 2-4pm lets you enjoy an afternoon coffee with folks during Latte Hour.
