Job Description: QC Inspector
Location: South Portland, ME – Onsite
Contract Duration: Through 12/31/2026
Schedule: 1st Shift, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $27.66–$29.64/hr
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Inspector, QC / Instrument Quality Technician to support the Global Instruments Quality organization in South Portland, ME. This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, repair, testing, inspection, and quality support for medical devices and instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities: Perform advanced troubleshooting, repairs, and final acceptance testing on medical devices. Perform cleaning, decontamination, disassembly, and final assembly while following ESD and safety procedures. Analyze data to troubleshoot complex technical problems and identify solutions. Approve repairs up to $2,000 while making cost-effective repair decisions. Provide technical support and training to other technicians. Work independently with minimal supervision. Assist Lead Technicians with advanced repairs. Handle and maneuver small components and parts. Analyze calibration and service data to verify compliance with acceptance criteria. Process, review, and route Purchase/Work Orders accurately and efficiently. Complete detailed test records and work orders according to established procedures. Perform cleaning, decontamination, and surveillance testing in accordance with SOPs. Inspect equipment, standards, parts, and mechanical components for defects, errors, and calibration status. Troubleshoot product and process issues to reduce rejects and improve throughput. Maintain accurate records and support spare-parts inventory and procurement activities. Follow ISO, FDA, quality, safety, manufacturing, and documentation requirements. Complete required training within established deadlines.
Basic Qualifications: 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.4+ years of experience in a high-volume production environment. Experience working within ISO, FDA, or comparable quality systems. Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and optical diagrams and technical specifications. Hands-on experience with electromechanical repair, rebuilding, or field service. Experience working with medical instrumentation. Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet, database, and word-processing applications. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years of experience as an Electromechanical Technician. Experience working with medical instrumentation.
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate has a strong background in electromechanical repair and medical instrumentation, with experience working in a regulated ISO/FDA environment. They should be comfortable troubleshooting complex technical issues, performing detailed inspections and testing, maintaining accurate documentation, and working independently with a high level of quality and accuracy.
