Registered Nurse – Acute Care

George Washington University Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, evidence-based care in our 395-bed academic medical center in Washington, DC. In this fast-paced, innovative environment, you will manage complex tertiary and quaternary care patients, including trauma, neurosciences, cardiovascular, and surgical cases. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, care planning, medication administration, and patient/family education while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. You will support teaching and research, precept learners, and participate in quality initiatives, with opportunities for professional growth in academic medicine. Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to a diverse, complex patient population Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for therapeutic and adverse responses Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams on care coordination Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge plans Document care accurately in the electronic health record Precept new nurses and support nursing students in a teaching environment Participate in quality improvement, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives Acute care nursing Patient assessment and triage Medication administration and IV therapy Telemetry and vital signs monitoring Wound and post-operative care Electronic health record documentation Care planning and care coordination Patient and family education Infection prevention and control Quality improvement and evidence-based practice Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license in DC or compact state BLS certification ACLS preferred Specialty certification (e.g., CCRN, CEN, RNC) preferred depending on unit Ability to precept and mentor new nurses and students
