Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding the residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in the receiving and giving of shift reports. Communicate with residents, family, and staff as necessary to ensure the resident receives appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team. Perform the initial admission nursing assessment on a newly admitted resident. Assist with the development of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, assessments, treatments, and summaries of client progress. Lead and perform limited supervision of subordinate staff and assist as needed with direct resident care for the completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene, and mobility. Conduct and participate in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff. Utilize problem-solving concepts and tools for continuous work/process improvements and efficiency. Possess knowledge of gerontological nursing theory and practices. Understand the residents' condition and changing medical/physical/psychological care needs. Be informed about the effects of the aging process. Practice the procedures of team nursing. Develop treatment plans for resident/patient care. Follow practices and procedures of pharmacology and medicines. Comply with federal, state, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing professional nursing practices. Understand the security and control of medical supplies, medications, and their dispensing. Apply professional nursing methods and techniques effectively. Observe and assess behavior and progress of patients. Interpret state and agency laws and regulations governing nursing practices. Develop and carry out patient care plans within a team nursing concept. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Build interpersonal relationships. Show the ability to learn, implement, and monitor methods for problem-solving and continuous work/process improvement and efficiency.
