Apply for this role →BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – DATA CENTER DIVISIONCritical / Stored Power Solutions | Remote (Southeast / South, US Preffered)
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client is a leading provider of stored power solutions with over a century ofheritage, built by uniting a number of established power-solutions businesses into asingle organization with a broad national footprint and deep technical expertise. Backed by private equity, the company has earmarked fresh investment to rapidly growits newly formed Data Center Division, and is hiring a Business Development Manager tohelp drive that growth from the ground floor. This is a rare chance to join a young, fast-moving division inside a well-established, financially backed company: the stability and reputation of a market leader, with theenergy, autonomy, and upside of a start-up. The division runs a flat, founder-styleculture with direct access to senior leadership, so visibility and influence comequickly.
WHAT THE COMPANY:
DOESOur client designs, installs, and services stored power systems that keepmission-critical operations running when the grid can't. The business isbattery-manufacturer agnostic, selecting whichever chemistry and system best fits thecustomer's application rather than pushing a single product line. Core offering:- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)- UPS systems and power conditioning- VRLA, Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL), lithium-ion, and emerging battery chemistries- Battery racks, cabinets, and enclosures- Battery monitoring systems and test equipmentA key differentiator, and a strategic margin focus, is the service side of thebattery backup lifecycle:- Site assessment, load analysis, and system design- Turnkey installation, commissioning, and project management- Preventive maintenance, testing, and battery monitoring- 24/7 emergency response- IEEE and NERC compliance documentation- Planned battery replacement and responsible recycling With a nationwide service network, the company can typically reach customer sites withinhours, a meaningful advantage over smaller or less-resourced competitors. WHY THIS ROLE, WHY NOW?The Data Center Division targets Tier 2, 3, and 4 data centers, with a particular focuson colocation and smaller sites rather than hyperscalers. The timing is compelling: datacenter power demand is accelerating, grid interconnection has become a bottleneck in siteselection, and onsite battery storage is shifting from a backup afterthought to astrategic, load-managing asset, with regulatory momentum pushing operators toward morerobust onsite backup capacity. There's a concrete, near-term pipeline behind this hire, including a significant livebattery-replacement opportunity, a book of established named colocation accounts thataren't currently being fully managed, and strong cross-sell potential through existingutility relationships across the wider business.
THE ROLE:
This is a classic business development / account management role. Your primary mandate ismanaging and growing a portfolio of existing named accounts, with some prospecting intonew logos. There are no assigned territories, the team works from named accounts withclear internal ownership, so there's no competing over whose deal is whose.
What you'll do:
- Own and grow a portfolio of named data center accounts (colocation and Tier 2–4operators)- Step into pressing, active customer needs and capitalize on opportunity already inmotion- Prospect and develop new accounts alongside account growth- Work cross-functionally with engineering and service teams to scope and deliver backuppower and battery solutions- Partner closely with the VP of the Data Center Division as a key contributor to theteam's build-outWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR- Data center energy infrastructure experience combined with a strong sales track record- A working understanding of how the grid, backup generation, and batteries interactwithin data center operations- The seniority to contribute quickly, this is not an entry-level or junior role- Battery-specific experience is a plus but not required; we can teach battery specifics, not how to sell- Backgrounds from a manufacturer, distributor, or service provider in the backup power /data center energy space are all welcome- Prior experience with Tier 2–4 or colocation accounts is a bonus, not a hardrequirementCOMPENSATION & LOCATION- Base salary: $125,000 – $140,000- Uncapped commission, OTE $200,000+- Remote, with key market activity concentrated in Texas and Virginia and expansionunderway across the South and Southeast- Candidates based in these regions, or able to travel there efficiently, are bestpositioned (a West Coast base is less practical for this territory)CAREER PROGRESSIONThis hire is positioned as a potential right-hand to the VP of the Data Center Division, with the opportunity to grow into a broader leadership role as the division scales. Joining now, as the team builds toward an ambitious multimillion-dollar quota, offersground-floor positioning that's hard to find in a more established data center powerorganization.
