Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Chicago, ILWorking Arrangement: HybridWe're seeking two Senior Electrical Project Engineers to support the development and delivery of major energy infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, battery storage, natural gas generation and large-scale data centre power infrastructure. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing global energy developer, taking ownership of complex electrical engineering projects and working across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development and design through to construction, commissioning and operations. You'll work on major energy campuses integrating renewables, BESS and thermal generation with 100 MW+ data centre loads, giving you exposure to some of the most exciting developments in the power and energy sector.

The Opportunity: In this role, you'll take a lead position in overseeing the electrical engineering scope across major energy projects. You'll coordinate engineering consultants, EPC contractors, utilities and other key stakeholders, ensuring projects are technically robust and successfully delivered.

Key Responsibilities: Lead electrical engineering activities from early-stage development and feasibility through detailed design, construction and commissioning. Define overall electrical architecture, design criteria, single-line diagrams, protection philosophies and system redundancy strategies. Oversee the integration of renewable generation, BESS, natural gas generation, substations, transmission infrastructure and large-scale data centre loads. Manage and coordinate Owner's Engineers, engineering consultants, EPC contractors and specialist technical advisors. Oversee electrical balance-of-plant design, including MV/HV systems, substations, collection systems, protection and controls, grounding and metering. Review engineering designs, technical specifications, equipment selections, vendor drawings and procurement packages. Coordinate with utilities, transmission providers, equipment manufacturers, construction teams and other project stakeholders. Support grid interconnection, compliance requirements, power system studies and technical due diligence. Lead technical design reviews, constructability assessments and resolution of engineering issues throughout project delivery. Support commissioning, energisation, testing and final handover to operations.

What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.5+ years of electrical engineering experience within power generation, renewables, BESS, natural gas generation, substations, transmission or large-scale electrical infrastructure. Broad electrical engineering knowledge, ideally with exposure to multiple areas of power and energy infrastructure. Experience overseeing engineering consultants, EPC contractors or third-party technical advisors. Strong project engineering experience, with involvement across multiple stages of the project lifecycle. Understanding of electrical design, power systems, grid interconnection and utility requirements. Strong technical coordination, stakeholder management and project delivery skills. Ability to oversee the wider electrical scope rather than focusing exclusively on one engineering discipline. Desirable: Experience with energy campuses, microgrids, data centre power infrastructure, large industrial loads, BESS integration, power system modelling tools (PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, SKM or similar), and a Professional Engineer (PE) licence.
