Senior Technical Documentation Consultant Our client provides geolocation and fraud prevention technology for regulated online gaming operators. Its platform helps operators meet complex regulatory and operational requirements while delivering reliable, real-time geolocation experiences. Our client is seeking a Senior Technical Documentation Consultant to overhaul its client documentation portal. The goal is a resource that helps prospective clients evaluate the platform and helps existing clients integrate and operate it. You'll own the project end-to-end, from discovery and information architecture through writing, validation, publishing and handover. The portal must serve three audiences, each with its own clear learning path: product managers, developers and technical architects, and anti-fraud and risk teams. This is a remote, independent contractor (1099) engagement billed hourly. It starts with a discovery and audit phase, followed by an overhaul with an agreed scope and budget.
What You'll Do:
  • Audit the current portal and supporting material for gaps, conflicting guidance, outdated content and recurring client questions, and benchmark against leading developer platforms
  • Propose a portal structure and prioritized delivery plan with scope, milestones, review owners and acceptance criteria
  • Write a capability guide and integration decision guide covering use cases, prerequisites, tradeoffs, limitations and the right integration path for each scenario
  • Document the full client journey: platform concepts, integration paths, implementation (setup, credentials, request/response flows, code samples, diagrams), testing and launch, fraud analysis and operations, and troubleshooting
  • Interview Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Support, Fraud and Compliance experts, and reconcile conflicting explanations
  • Verify technical guidance through hands-on testing, and flag product gaps rather than filling them with assumptions
  • Design navigation, page templates, search terms and a consistent glossary, and deliver usable sections in stages
  • Use approved AI tools to speed up research, writing and consistency checks, with all output technically validated
  • Hand over editable source content, templates and a maintenance process the client's team can sustain
What You'll Need:
  • A portfolio of substantial documentation portals or major overhauls you personally delivered for SaaS platforms, APIs or SDKsStrong hands-on technical fluency: you can read code, work with APIs and SDKs, run sample integrations and inspect requests and responses
  • Experience writing for both technical and non-technical audiences at the right depth for each
  • Excellent writing, editing and information architecture skills, including tutorials, conceptual guides, references, diagrams and troubleshooting content
  • Experience scoping, estimating and delivering independent consulting engagements
  • A rigorous approach to accuracy: you test instructions, resolve contradictions and separate supported behavior from assumptions
  • Strong working knowledge of AI tools for technical documentation, and of their limits
  • Helpful: geolocation, fraud prevention, identity or security products, regulated software, docs-as-code tools or gaming industry experience
  • What They Offer:
  • Fully remote; candidates outside the US may be considered
  • Flexible, part-time schedule with predictable weekly capacity
  • A high-visibility project with direct access to product, engineering and executive stakeholders
  • Possible ongoing maintenance work after the engagement
  • To apply, include 2–3 documentation samples, a short description of how you'd approach the audit and rebuild, an example of an AI-assisted documentation workflow, your hourly rate, weekly availability and earliest start date
