Medical-Surgical ICU Registered Nurse

UT Health East Texas is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical ICU in Tyler, TX. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered critical care to acutely ill adults requiring complex monitoring, advanced therapies, and post-surgical management. You will assess and monitor patients, administer medications and IV therapies, manage ventilators and life-support equipment, and collaborate closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary team. Provide high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical ICU patients following evidence-based protocols Continuously monitor, assess, and document patient status, vital signs, and response to treatments Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and manage advanced life-support equipment Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to develop and implement care plans Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care Ensure strict adherence to patient safety, infection prevention, and hospital policies Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and participate in codes and emergency interventions Use electronic health records accurately for charting, orders, and communication Precept and mentor new nurses and support continuous learning within the team Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based committees Critical care nursing Patient assessment and monitoring Ventilator management IV therapy and infusion management Cardiac rhythm interpretation Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation Wound and post-surgical care Medication administration and titration Infection prevention and control Emergency response and code management Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401k Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state eligibility Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Critical care or ICU experience or completion of critical care training program preferred Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) preferred
