Apply for this role (opens in a new tab)Western-sovereign Humanoid RobotsWe build Western-sovereign humanoid robots for the world's most demanding environments. Backed by General Catalyst, with teams in San Francisco, London, and Germany. Our robots combine high power, dense sensing, onboard compute, and high-bandwidth communications to tackle complex tasks in unstructured environments.
About the Role:
Training the best policy requires a tight feedback loop: automatically test it across different conditions, compare it with other candidates, understand why it succeeds or fails, reproduce exactly how it was trained and evaluated, and run the best candidates on real robots. The data from those deployments should then help us build the next generation of better policies. You will help build the infrastructure that makes this possible. You will get to build products from scratch, iterate quickly, and solve problems that do not yet have standard solutions. You will have substantial freedom to find simple, effective approaches and the ownership to turn them into systems used across the company. You will work with the latest robotics research and simulators, manage real GPU infrastructure, and collaborate directly with controls, machine-learning, and robotics engineers. Your work will directly affect how quickly we can improve what our robots are capable of doing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build systems for evaluating, comparing, and investigating robot policies
- Make experiments and results reproducible from training through simulation and physical deployment
- Build infrastructure for running policies on real robots and turning deployment data into useful feedback
- Operate and improve our in-house GPU compute so researchers can train and evaluate policies efficiently
- Improve the simulation, testing, and developer infrastructure that determines how quickly the team can iterate
- Identify recurring bottlenecks and turn them into simple, reliable tools or systems
The exact projects will evolve with the company. The goal will remain the same: find what is limiting our engineers and build the simplest system that meaningfully accelerates them.
You Might Thrive In This Role If YouHave strong software-engineering fundamentals
Enjoy finding simple solutions to complicated problems
Are comfortable working with Python and LinuxCan take an ambiguous problem from an initial idea to a useful working product
Learn quickly and are comfortable working across unfamiliar parts of the stack
Are highly independent, curious, and motivated by having a large impact
Want to understand how deep-learning policies behave when they leave simulation and control real machines.
We are not credentials-driven. We care more about demonstrated ability, judgment, curiosity, and rate of improvement than a particular degree or number of years of experience.
Nice To Have:
- Experience with robotics, reinforcement learning, controls, or ML infrastructure
- Backend systems, databases, APIs, or modern web developmentGPU clusters, Slurm, containers, or distributed workloads
- Isaac Sim, IsaacLab, MuJoCo, or other simulation systemsCI/CD, networking, observability, or developer tooling
Compensation & Benefits:
We believe that those working on life-saving missions should share in the success of that mission.
