About Matouk Founded in 1929, Matouk is a maker of finely crafted linens and home accessories for passionate and discerning consumers around the world. The Matouk name stands for more than a business; it represents three generations of our family realizing a dream. It also stands for our larger family – our inspiring and talented employees and our partner suppliers around the world – who are committed to carrying out an authentic and extraordinary tradition.
Summary:
Matouk is seeking an experienced visual merchandising consultant to help define how the brand comes to life across its physical environments. The central deliverable is a Visual Merchandising Brand Guideline that translates the vision of the creative and brand team into clear, practical standards that others can confidently execute. The work should bring together the warmth and beauty of a Matouk home with the discipline of a successful retail experience. The strategy and guidelines will extend across the House of Matouk (HoM), the New York showroom, the Atlanta showroom and external Matouk partner spaces, including independent retailers, Bloomingdale’s locations and other partner environments (ie how we show up in a pop up or trade show space). Objectives Establish a clear Matouk point of view for visual merchandising, grounded in our product, craftsmanship and customer. Create a more cohesive brand discovery and shopping experience, with clear product stories, intuitive navigation and a balance of inspiration and ease of shopping. Give HoM, showroom, sales and retail partner teams the guidance and confidence to maintain standards, make everyday adjustments and execute approved seasonal changes. Scope of work1. Discovery and assessment. Meet with leadership and key Brand, Creative, Sales and Retail partners. Assess HoM, the New York and Atlanta showrooms, and representative partner spaces, including independent retailers and Bloomingdale’s. Agree site visits and remote reviews in the proposal. Review customer journeys, product presentation, circulation, fixtures, shelving, signage, props, lighting. Identify immediate improvements and longer-term opportunities by environment.2. Visual merchandising strategy Define a consistent Matouk point of view starting with our owned spaces (and providing guidelines for partner spaces) with specific direction for each environment. Establish product stories, focal areas, navigation and selling priorities. Recommend a refresh cadence for windows, beds, shelves and seasonal displays, aligned with the marketing calendar and each location’s needs.3. Guideline development. Create an illustrated working guide with photographs, annotated examples and clear instructions. Include dedicated guidance for House of Matouk flagship, the New York showroom, the Atlanta showroom, and ultimately high level guidance for independent retailers and department store partners such as Bloomingdale’s. Show how standards adapt to different footprints, assortments, fixtures, staffing and retailer requirements. Guideline content Brand principles and visual examples that define what a Matouk environment should look and feel like. Product presentation standards across bedding, bath, table, robes and accessories, including bed styling, folding, stacking, spacing, color stories, layering and product groupings. Guidance for windows, focal displays, fixtures, shelves, props, signage and product information, with recommendations for lighting and music. Technical design or installation requirements should be identified for specialist support. Annotated layouts and visual examples for HoM, the New York showroom, and the Atlanta showroom. Include options for small displays, dedicated Matouk areas and shop-in-shops for partner retailers. Seasonal refresh principles, approved product substitution rules, daily maintenance checklists and reset instructions after sales, appointments, events or photo shoots. Pilot and team training Test the standards through agreed physical pilots and layout studies covering HoM, the New York showroom, the Atlanta showroom. Specify which examples will be installed or developed remotely. Refine the guideline using the findings. Train internal teams and provide partner-facing tools for upkeep, substitutions, seasonal updates and approvals. Required deliverables Assessment and recommendations: photographed findings and priorities for owned spaces and representative retail partners, identifying immediate changes and improvements requiring investment. Visual merchandising strategy: shared brand principles, recommendations by environment and a proposed seasonal refresh calendar. Final Matouk Visual Merchandising Brand Guideline: illustrated PDF and editable files with dedicated guidance for HoM, both showrooms, independent retailers and department store partners. Pilot and training package: approved visual examples, internal and retail partner training tools, maintenance and reset checklists, and clear responsibilities and approvals. Implementation roadmap: rollout priorities across owned and select partner spaces, staffing and specialist needs, indicative costs and options for future support. Working model The consultant will partner with the SVP, Head of Brand, with creative direction and approval from our Creative Director. Proposed review points are the assessment, strategic direction and draft guideline, followed by final approval after the pilot. The proposal should specify the number of review rounds included. Daily showroom and office operations, sample ordering and inventory management will sit with internal teams. Display upkeep will sit with the relevant Matouk or partner team. Strategy, guidelines and implementation planning for external partners are included in this project. Physical rollout, window production, holiday decorating, fabrication, major resets and market installations should be scoped and priced separately. Partner profile and proposal request We are looking for a partner with strong luxury home or lifestyle experience, excellent taste, retail expertise and a demonstrated ability to turn creative vision into useful standards and training. Please share relevant work, the proposed approach and team, timeline and on-site requirements, fees by phase, expenses and assumptions.
