Engineering Manager (EPIC)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager (SDM) – AI (Epic/Healthcare) to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity with regular travel required to Charlotte, NC. What The Right Professional Will Enjoy! The ability to drive technology initiatives centered around Epic and healthcare system integrations, including HL7, FHIR, and patient data workflows. The opportunity to lead the development of solutions that improve patient access, patient experience, and revenue cycle operations. The ability to leverage Microsoft Azure and AI technologies to build scalable, secure, production-ready healthcare solutions. Exposure to emerging AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, AI agents, and automation. A hands-on leadership role working alongside engineering teams to drive architecture, development, and technical strategy. Apply today if your background includes:10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years of direct engineering management experience. Strong healthcare IT experience, particularly with Epic, HL7, and FHIR integrations. Experience supporting healthcare workflows such as patient access, patient experience, or revenue cycle management. Hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying AI or machine learning solutions into production. Strong Microsoft Azure experience, including cloud architecture, compute, data, identity, and monitoring. Proficiency in Python and experience with at least one additional language, such as Java, TypeScript, or Go. Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure as code, and cloud-based application development. Experience building and operating applications in a HIPAA-regulated environment, including secure handling of protected health information (PHI).Strong technical leadership, Agile delivery, and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical executives.
