Locomotive Crane Opr

FLPosition Summary: The Locomotive Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating locomotive and crane equipment used to move, load, unload, and position large steel pipe, materials, and equipment throughout the manufacturing facility and yard. This position requires close attention to safety, equipment condition, load handling, and communication with production employees.

Responsibilities: Safely operate locomotive, crane, and other assigned material-handling equipment. Move and position large-diameter pipe and other heavy materials throughout the plant and yard. Load, unload, lift, and transport materials according to production needs. Inspect equipment before use and report any mechanical or safety concerns. Follow proper rigging, lifting, and load-handling procedures. Communicate with spotters, production employees, and supervisors when moving equipment or suspended loads. Maintain awareness of employees, equipment, and other hazards in the work area. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and established operating practices. Assist with general production or material-handling duties as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications: Previous crane, locomotive, heavy-equipment, or industrial material-handling experience preferred. Experience working around large or heavy materials preferred. Ability to understand load limits and follow safe lifting and rigging procedures. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong attention to safety and surroundings. Work Environment: Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to climb, bend, stand, walk, and work outdoors or in an industrial manufacturing environment for extended periods. Must be comfortable working around heavy machinery, moving equipment, suspended loads, noise, dust, and changing weather conditions. Required PPE must be worn at all times.
