Field Service TechnicianFULL TIME DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITYJob Description The Field Service Technician provides proficient technical support for customers on a dedicated product line, focusing on training, repair, preventive maintenance, and startup assistance for existing instruments. The role combines in-field service work, with approximately 50% travel to customer sites, and in-house technical support and repairs performed at the facility.
Responsibilities: Troubleshoot, repair, and test customer-owned instruments to meet required deadlines and ensure reliable performance. Perform in-house troubleshooting, repair, and functional testing on customer instruments using appropriate tools and test equipment. Assist colleagues with both in-house and in-field troubleshooting of customer instruments, sharing expertise and best practices. Manufacture and support permeation equipment used to test packaged food products, ensuring quality and accuracy of instrumentation. Use hand tools to replace and repair non-working components and resolve mechanical or electronic issues identified by customers. Provide technical and operational support to customers via phone and email, clearly explaining findings, solutions, and next steps. Complete and submit accurate Instrument Repair Log documentation for each instrument, including diagnosis, repair estimates, and detailed descriptions of completed repairs. Communicate with customers to confirm scheduling, service requirements, and logistics for in-field services at their sites. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new or improved methods, techniques, and advanced maintenance procedures relevant to the instruments. Keep appropriate internal personnel informed of customer issues, technical problems, and service status to ensure alignment and timely resolution. Work effectively with all levels of the organization, both internal teams and external customers, fostering positive relationships and collaboration. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and documentation as needed to diagnose issues and perform accurate repairs. Manage multiple service tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure to meet customer deadlines and service commitments. Essential SkillsAt least 2 years of technician experience with an electronics background. Proficiency using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and volt meters. Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, with regular return home on Fridays. Strong troubleshooting skills in both electronics and mechanical systems. Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for component replacement and repair. Strong communication skills for interacting with customers via phone, email, and in person. Strong computer skills for documentation, communication, and use of diagnostic software or tools. Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and technical documentation. Demonstrated ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications: Two-year technical degree is highly preferred but not required. Strong electronic and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn advanced maintenance procedures. Customer service experience providing technical support via phone and email is beneficial.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $78000.00 - $78000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
