Associate Financial Planner / Advisor · $2K–$5K/month stipend · Flagstaff, AZEarn a $2,000 to $5,000 monthly stipend while you learn financial planning one-on-one from a CFP® with more than 35 years in practice. No sales quota, and no license or experience required to start. Just a chance to build something special. Forgent is a specialty talent platform for financial services firms. We're leading this search on behalf of our client, an independent planning firm that has served Flagstaff families for more than 35 years. Nearly 7 in 10 new advisors leave the business within five years. The ones who last usually start the same way: inside an established practice, with a mentor who wants them to succeed. Our client is offering one person exactly that. You'll learn a simple, honest approach to planning, get licensed at the firm's expense, and build a client base in your own community that you own and control.$2K–$5K/month stipend that grows with your book · No sales quotas · Series 65 paid · No industry experience required Why it's worth a look A mentor, not a sales manager. Big-firm training programs give new advisors a cohort, a quota, and a product list. Here, you learn one-on-one from a CFP® who has practiced for more than 35 years. Nobody will ever ask you to hit a monthly number or sell something a client doesn't need. Paid to learn, and paid more as you grow. The stipend gives you a floor while you get licensed and find your first clients, and it grows as your book grows. The firm's most recent hire started at the low end of the range, and her stipend has since more than doubled. A practice of your own, without the startup cost. At a big firm, the book you build usually belongs to them. Going independent usually means paying for an office, technology, and compliance before you earn a dollar. Here, the firm covers all of that, plus your Series 65 materials and exam, and the relationships you build are yours. Introductions, not cold calls. You'll be introduced to local business groups, estate planning attorneys and other referral partners, and community education events where people actually want to talk about money. As you prove yourself, some of the firm's existing client relationships move to you. Advice you can explain at a kitchen table. Plain language, low-cost no-commission share classes, and a long-term view. No 50-page plans nobody reads, and no jargon. If you've ever been turned off by the way this industry talks to people, you'll feel at home. Proof the model works. The last person to take this path came from a pre-med track with no financial services background. In under three years, she built roughly $18 million in client assets without a quota, and she now runs her own schedule. She will be your colleague and is the succession plan for the firm. What your first year looks like Your first two to three months center on passing the Series 65 while you learn the firm's planning process side by side with the founder. From there, you're out in Flagstaff: meeting business owners, joining community groups, working your network, and sitting in on client meetings until you're leading your own. You set your own schedule throughout. The honest part about money This is a business you're building, not a salary job. Expect to earn under $100,000 for your first two or three years. In the experience of the firm's most recent hire, an advisor here reaches a comfortable, self-supporting income at around $15 to $20 million in client assets. Let's talk about you You want work that genuinely helps people. Maybe you prepare taxes, sell insurance, teach, work in healthcare, or run a small business, and you've noticed that people keep asking you about money. You'd rather build something of your own than wait for a paycheck every two weeks, and you keep yourself on track without anyone checking in. You can explain complicated things simply, and you'd never use jargon to make someone feel small. Your own finances are in order. You live within your means and can handle a few lean years while you build. You'd walk away from a sale before you'd sell someone something they don't need. Flagstaff is home, or you want it to be, for the long haul.
What you'll need: To live in or near Flagstaff, or be committed to a long-term move there. Integrity, strong communication skills, curiosity, and self-motivation. No license or industry experience is required; you'll earn your Series 65 in your first few months, fully paid.
