Hampton Roads area, Virginia // Non-exempt, hourlyTHE ROLEYou work on MEB's pile and sheeting crews installing piles, sheeting, and shoring systems on heavy civil and marine projects. You run hammers, set leads, rig loads, and install the shoring that everything built after you depends on. WHAT YOU WILL OWNRigging and lift safety. Understand the load charts, rig correctly, and signal clearly. You hold stop-work authority and you use it, because the consequences on a pile crew are immediate. Pile driving. Operate hydraulic and diesel hammers with fixed or swinging leads to drive concrete, timber, H-pile, and pipe pile. Sheeting. Operate vibratory hammers to drive sheet piling. Shoring systems. Install shoring including walers and struts, correctly and in the right sequence. Blow counts and records. Record pile blow counts accurately. That record is engineering data, not paperwork. Plans and markings. Work from project plans and survey markings, and flag it when what is staked does not match what is drawn. Equipment. Offload material, assemble equipment, and perform the daily inspections and operational checks on hammers, power packs, cranes, excavators, loaders, and forklifts. Supporting the other crews. Pile work does not run in isolation. You will work alongside carpenters, finishers, pipelayers, operators, and fitters as the job requires. WHAT YOU BRING2+ years on a pile, sheeting, or marine crew, or equivalent heavy civil experience with rigging and hoisting Ability to operate hydraulic and diesel pile hammers and vibratory hammers for sheet piling Working understanding of basic load charts for cranes and hoisting equipment, and sound rigging and signaling judgment Experience installing shoring systems including walers and struts Ability to read project plans and survey markings and record accurate blow counts Certification to operate broom tractors, manlifts, and forklifts, or the willingness to earn it. We will support you Rigging and Signaling, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Hazcom and Lockout/Tagout, Silica, Ladders and Stairways, and Fire Prevention. OSHA 10 preferred. We provide and maintain what you do not already hold Respirator medical clearance required. Where the work calls for a tight-fitting respirator, OSHA requires a clean-shaven seal area. Required PPE at all timesCOMPENSATIONThe anticipated starting hourly rate for this position is $29 to $32 an hour. This is the range we expect to pay someone starting in this position. Where an offer lands within it depends on the experience you bring, the certifications and technical skills that apply to this work, the scope you have carried before, and what we pay people already doing equivalent work here.
