Residential Mortgage, Credit Risk, Diligence & Transaction Management – Global Investment Platform *Relocation Required*
Location: Minneapolis, MNRelocation: Full relocation package available for non-MN residents.
Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days in the Minneapolis office. Jackson Lucas is partnering with an established global investment platform that is continuing to build out its residential mortgage investment business domestically. We are hiring for several roles across a growing residential loan platform. These roles sit on the principal side and focus on residential mortgage credit, correspondent/originator oversight, loan acquisition diligence, transaction execution, and portfolio risk management. The right background may look different from person to person. We are most interested in candidates who have worked close to residential mortgage assets, whole-loan purchases, correspondent channels, seller/originator relationships, underwriting guidelines, diligence/QC, secondary market activity, servicing transfers, or portfolio-level credit risk. We are also open to adjacent lending or credit backgrounds where you have owned credit risk across a portfolio, led underwriting or credit operations, managed analysts or underwriters, built scalable credit processes, or helped launch, centralize, or improve a lending / risk function. This is not simply another loan-processing, production-underwriting, or file-review role. The team is looking for people who can bring practical mortgage or credit judgment, understand how individual loan issues affect portfolio, counterparty, and investment risk, and help build a scalable platform as transaction volume grows. This may also appeal to candidates who have led underwriting or credit operations teams, improved credit workflows, centralized lending processes, or helped build frameworks for portfolio monitoring, exceptions, diligence, or risk escalation. Depending on your background, the work may include: Reviewing residential mortgage loans and portfolios for credit, collateral, documentation, compliance, eligibility, and investment-related risk. Evaluating underwriting decisions, guideline exceptions, diligence findings, defects, repurchase issues, and recurring loan-quality trends. Supporting whole-loan acquisitions from diligence through purchase, settlement, delivery, boarding, or servicing transfer. Helping evaluate and onboard originators, sellers, correspondent partners, servicers, diligence firms, and other counterparties. Assessing seller/originator performance and identifying broader credit, operational, or process risks across a portfolio. Contributing to credit criteria, underwriting guidelines, overlays, diligence scope, QC processes, reporting, and portfolio-monitoring frameworks. Working directly with internal investment, credit, operations, legal, technology, and senior business leaders. Coordinating with external sellers, originators, diligence providers, servicers, legal teams, and other counterparties to resolve issues and keep transactions moving. Using data, automation, technology, and AI-enabled tools to improve how mortgage information is reviewed, tracked, escalated, and used. We are especially interested in backgrounds such as: Residential mortgage credit risk or underwriting governance Correspondent lending, TPO, seller approval, or originator oversight Counterparty risk within residential mortgage, lending, or structured finance Mortgage due diligence, re-underwriting, QC, or loan-quality review Credit policy, guidelines, overlays, exceptions, or defect management Whole-loan acquisitions, purchase review, or loan-pool diligence Secondary marketing, loan delivery, settlement, or trade support Residential transaction management, loan boarding, or servicing transfers Rep & warrant, repurchase, remediation, or investor review Portfolio credit monitoring, loan-quality analytics, or risk surveillance Non-QM, DSCR, HELOC, agency, jumbo, FHA, HFA, or other residential mortgage products The strongest candidates will have moved beyond purely file-by-file review and will have exposure to how credit risk is evaluated at the seller, originator, portfolio, transaction, guideline, or counterparty level. This may include ownership of underwriting standards, portfolio monitoring, counterparty review, credit exceptions, team leadership, or process buildout within a lending or mortgage credit environment. Why this could be an interesting next step: This is an opportunity to apply residential mortgage, lending, or credit risk experience in a principal-side investment environment. You will see how loans are evaluated before purchase, how sellers and originators are assessed, how diligence findings affect investment decisions, how transactions move from review to settlement, and how credit risk develops across an entire portfolio. The platform is growing, and the team is still building processes, workflows, reporting, and risk frameworks. That creates an opportunity for someone who wants more ownership, broader visibility, and a seat closer to the business than a traditional production, QC, loan-review, or credit-support role. This could be a strong next step for someone who has helped manage credit risk, improve underwriting or diligence processes, oversee loan or portfolio performance, support credit decision-making, or build more consistent lending workflows — and now wants to apply that experience in an investment-focused residential mortgage platform. This may be a strong fit if you have residential mortgage experience and want to be closer to: Whole-loan investment activity Credit and diligence decision-making Seller/originator performance Portfolio-level risk trends Transaction execution and settlement Process buildout, technology, automation, and scalable operating workflows Senior leaders across investment, credit, operations, legal, and technology Total Compensation Range (Base + Bonus): $150-$200K*If you have relevant experience and are interested in learning more, please click Apply, and we will reach out to you directly.*
