A leading global private investment firm is seeking a Fund Controller to join its growing finance organization in New York. This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced private equity fund accounting professional to join a sophisticated investment platform with significant exposure to Sports, Media & Entertainment.

About the Role:
The Fund Controller will have broad ownership across the full lifecycle of complex private equity funds. This is an operational, hands-on position rather than a narrowly specialized or fund administration role. The firm is specifically targeting candidates from large, sophisticated private equity and alternative asset management platforms, ideally $50B+ in AUM, such as Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, KKR, Carlyle, Apollo, Ares or comparable firms. Candidates from high-quality mid-sized PE/private credit platforms will also be considered where they have broad ownership across the fund accounting process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own quarterly and annual fund closes and financial reporting
- Manage GP/LP structures, capital calls and distributions
- Review LP/investor allocations and management fee calculations
- Manage realized and unrealized carried interest waterfalls
- Support initial and subsequent fund closings
- Oversee subscription and NAV facilities
- Review and interpret LPAs and governing documents
- Monitor fund liquidity and cash forecasting
- Calculate/review IRR, TVPI, DPI and MOIC
- Manage complex structures including parallel funds, SPVs and co-investments
- Oversee third-party fund administrators rather than relying on them to own the process
- Support GP/employee funds, leverage programs and related structures
- Partner closely with investment, tax, legal and investor relations teams
Qualifications:
- 8–12+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Significant hands-on private equity fund accounting experience
- Strong preference for experience within a $50B+ institutional PE/alternative asset manager
- Candidates must have operated directly on the buy side and owned meaningful portions of the fund accounting process
- Strong understanding of the full PE fund lifecycle
- Experience with capital activity, allocations, waterfalls, financial reporting and administrator oversight
- Ability to operate across multiple areas rather than being narrowly specialized within one function
- Experience working with complex fund structures in a demanding, high-volume environment
- Strong understanding of PE fund accounting fundamentals from day one
- Experience with systems such as Investran, Allvue, eFront, Geneva or similar preferred
- CPA and/or Big 4 foundation preferred
