This is a hands-on position involving the coordination of ocean freight shipments, customs documentation, transportation partners, and time-sensitive deadlines. Coordinate international ocean freight shipments from booking through delivery and container return. Manage approximately 10-12 containers weekly, primarily arriving from Asia. Communicate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, trucking companies, suppliers, and internal departments. Monitor container availability, pickup schedules, delivery appointments, and return deadlines. Proactively address shipment delays and minimize demurrage, detention, and unnecessary transportation expenses. Manage time-sensitive correspondence and ensure outstanding items receive appropriate follow-up. Assist with freight rate coordination and transportation planning. Hands-on experience in ocean imports, freight forwarding, international shipping, or related logistics operations. Familiarity with customs documentation, freight coordination, and container tracking. Understanding of demurrage, detention, and the financial impact of missed deadlines. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and changing priorities. Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and general business software.
