Fellowship in Creative Writing in Fiction Colgate University invites applications for the Olive B. O'Connor Fellowship in Creative Writing. This year we invite applicationsfor a one-year fellowship, renewable for a second year, in fiction. Writers who have recently completed an MFA, MA, or PhD in creativewriting, and who need a year or two to complete their first book, are encouraged to apply. The selected writer will spend up to twoacademic years (late August 2027 to early May 2029) at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The fellow will teach twomultigenre introduction to creative writing courses in the firstyear; in the second year, if renewed, the fellow will teach threecourses, possibly including an upper-level workshop in fiction. Inthe second year, the fellow will also give a public reading fromtheir work in progress. The fellow may be asked to co-supervise oneor more honors theses each year. They will also have the option toassist with the Colgate Writers Conference in early June of bothyears for additional compensation. Salary Information The fellowship carries a stipend of $60,550 plus travel expenses; health and life insurance are provided. Colgate will not sponsorany visa or work authorization for this position. Application Materials and Deadline Complete applications, due by January 15, 2027, consist of a: cover letter; CV; three letters of recommendation, at least one of which shouldaddress the candidate's abilities as a teacher; and a prose writing sample (maximum of 30 double-spaced pages).The writing sample may be a completed work or an excerpt fromsomething larger.
