Seal Masters of Hawaii is seeking a seasoned Director of Human Resourcesto lead people strategy and oversee core HR functions across recruiting, employee experience, talent acquisition, and organizational development. This onsite role inHonolulu, HIblends HR operations, compliance, and performance leadership with a strong focus on safety and risk management. The Director of Human Resources will partner closely with company leadership and the Safety Officer to strengthen culture, improve processes, and support organizational growth. Success in this role is measured through consistent hiring and onboarding, improved engagement and retention, stronger leadership development, and clear HR and safety metrics that support business decisions.
Role Overview: Lead company people strategy andall aspects of Human Resources, Safety, Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, and Employee Engagement .Own recruiting and employee experience priorities, including leadership development and HR operations/compliance. Support organizational strategy through workforce planning, organizational design, succession planning, and compensation strategy.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the company recruiting strategy and hiring efforts. Develop hiring processes designed to consistently attractA-Players .Oversee onboarding to ensure a strong first employee experience. Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational growth. Champion company culture and employee engagement. Coach managers on leadership, accountability, communication, and employee development. Lead performance review processes and career development initiatives. Support conflict resolution, employee relations, and difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy. Oversee HR systems, policies, benefits administration, payroll support, compliance, and HR documentation. Ensure compliance withfederal, state, and local employment regulations .Continuously improve HR processes and systems. Partner with the Safety Officer to strengthen safety culture, safety compliance, certifications, workers’ compensation, and incident reporting. Use safety metrics to drive continuous improvement. Partner with the executive team on organizational design, succession planning, compensation strategy, and quarterly priorities. Develop scalable HR systems to support company growth. Create meaningful HR metrics that support business decisions.
Requirements: Bachelor's degreein Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field (preferred).7+ yearsof progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role .Experience leading recruiting, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development. Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, benefits administration, and HR best practices. Experience developing HR systems and scalable processes. Proven ability to coach leaders and influence organizational culture. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion. Construction industry experience preferred but not required. HRIS experience, Microsoft Office, and AI tools such asChatGPT or Claudeare preferred.
