Program: DIISD MoCI Program
Location: Norway-Vulcan Area Schools, Norway, MICounty: Dickinson County
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Position Type: Full-Time, School Year
Salary: $48,695–$79,942 per year
Benefits: Full benefits package available
Employment Status: Union, Exempt
Contract: Negotiated school calendar and in-service hours per the current Master Agreement
Reports To: Supervisor of Special Education
Application: Posted until filledYOUR IMPACTYou'll create and deliver individualized educational experiences that help students develop skills across academics, communication, independence, social-emotional growth, and everyday life.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing individualized education plans, goals, and instructional objectives
  • Providing instruction tailored to each student's abilities and needs
  • Building self-help, communication, physical, and motor skills
  • Supporting personal, social, and emotional development
  • Teaching health, safety, adult living, and work-related skills
  • Preparing students for post-school opportunities and placement
  • Coordinating and supervising classroom teacher aides
  • Collaborating with professionals and families to support student needs
  • Participating in IEPT meetings as requested
  • Supporting student integration through field trips and leisure activities
  • Conducting required student reviews and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Meeting timelines for Annual, Evaluation Review, and Redetermination IEP meetings
  • Maintaining confidentiality and following all DIISD policies and proceduresWHAT YOU BRING
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mental Retardation from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate in Mental/Cognitive Impairment
  • Meets the requirements of Special Education Rules
  • Ability to physically manage, lift, and interact with students of varying physical sizes and abilities as needed
  • Valid driver's license if driving is required for job-related responsibilities
