Head of Power Plant Operations

Power Plant Operations Responsibilities: Lead and manage the plant operations team, including scheduling, staffing, training, development, and performance. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the power plant, including boilers, steam turbines, generators, condensers, feedwater systems, and other plant equipment. Direct plant operations to meet safety, reliability, efficiency, generation, and environmental goals. Oversee the facility, ensuring a reliable fuel supply and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain operating procedures, startup and shutdown processes, and emergency response procedures. Lead day-to-day operating safety practices, including lockout/tagout, work permits, and emergency response procedures. Monitor plant performance and operational data to identify issues, improve reliability, and reduce downtime. Work closely with maintenance and other site teams to coordinate maintenance activities, outages, and equipment startup. Manage operations staffing, supplies, and day-to-day expenses within the plant budget. Maintain accurate operating logs, shift records, and documentation to support plant performance and compliance. Power Plant Operations Qualifications: Minimum of 7years of power plant operations experience Previous experience leading or supervising power plant operations teams. Experience managing staffing, operating costs, and resources within a plant budget. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis. Strong understanding of steam power plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, condensers, feedwater systems, and auxiliary equipment. Strong knowledge of plant startup, shutdown, and load-following operations. Familiarity with plant performance software and distributed control systems (DCS).Ability to read and understand P&IDs, engineering drawings, and system schematics. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
