Account Manager – Federal Health & Technology Staffing
Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Full-time
The ACI Group is looking for an ambitious, relationship-oriented Account Manager to join our team in Towson, Maryland. This is an opportunity for someone early in their career who is ready to take on more responsibility, work directly with clients and senior leadership, and develop toward a career in account management and business development. For nearly 30 years, ACI has helped government contractors, healthcare organizations, and commercial clients solve critical staffing and consulting needs. We have particularly deep experience supporting federal health programs, including work across the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the broader federal healthcare community. You do not need to arrive as a federal healthcare expert. We'll teach you our business, our clients, and the market. What we do need is someone who takes ownership, communicates well, stays organized, follows through, and isn't comfortable allowing an opportunity to sit still.
What You'll Do: You'll work closely with ACI's business development and recruiting teams to help move client opportunities from initial need through successful consultant placement.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with ACI clients and business partners.
  • Work with clients to understand new staffing and consulting requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with ACI's recruiting team to ensure they understand client needs, priorities, and timelines.
  • Manage client and candidate activity throughout the hiring process.
  • Coordinate interviews and follow up with clients for feedback and decisions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients and proactively identify opportunities that have stalled.
  • Track opportunities, candidates, interviews, next steps, and client activity in ACI's systems.
  • Help expand existing client relationships by identifying additional needs and opportunities.
  • Research client organizations, federal programs, contracts, and potential business opportunities.
  • Participate in client meetings and business-development activities with ACI leadership.
  • Gradually assume responsibility for selected client relationships and accounts.
  • Develop the skills and market knowledge necessary to generate new business opportunities independently.
  • Who We're Looking For:
  • We're less concerned about finding someone who has already done this exact job than we are about finding someone with the ability and motivation to grow into it.
  • You may currently be a recruiter, technical recruiter, staffing professional, account coordinator, account manager, sales development representative, business development representative, or early-career B2B salesperson who is ready for greater responsibility.
  • The strongest candidates will demonstrate:
  • Approximately 2–5 years of professional experience in staffing, recruiting, account management, sales, client services, or another relationship-driven business.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organization and follow-through.
  • A sense of urgency and personal ownership.
  • Comfort communicating with clients by phone, email, video, and in person.
  • Confidence asking questions and professionally pushing for decisions.
  • Curiosity and an interest in understanding how our clients' businesses work.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities without losing track of details.
  • A competitive, goal-oriented mindset.
  • An interest in developing into a client-facing account management and business-development professional.
  • Experience in IT staffing, healthcare staffing, government contracting, federal healthcare, or CMS is helpful but not required.
What Success Looks Like:
  • Success in this role isn't measured simply by calls, emails, or activity. It's measured by movement and results.
  • You'll help ensure that every active client opportunity has a clear next step, client requests receive timely attention, interviews move toward decisions, stalled opportunities are identified quickly, and ACI's recruiting and business-development teams remain aligned.
  • As you develop, success will increasingly include growing client relationships, identifying new staffing and consulting needs, creating funded opportunities, and contributing directly to ACI's growth.
  • Where This Role Can Go:
  • We aren't looking for someone simply to administer accounts. We're looking for someone we can develop.
  • Initially, you'll learn ACI's business by working directly alongside experienced business-development and recruiting leaders and taking ownership of the day-to-day movement of client opportunities.
  • As you demonstrate success, you'll have the opportunity to take greater ownership of client relationships, develop accounts, participate in federal-health business development, generate new opportunities, and ultimately grow into a larger Account Executive or Business Development role.
  • For the right person, this position can become the foundation for a long-term career at ACI.
Compensation:
  • ACI offers a competitive base salary plus performance-based incentive compensation.
  • Anticipated base salary: $60,000–$75,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with additional earning opportunity based on individual and company performance.
  • About The ACI Group:
  • The ACI Group, Inc. is a Towson, Maryland-based professional services and staffing firm with nearly 30 years of experience helping organizations identify and engage highly qualified technology, healthcare, and professional talent.
  • Our clients range from growing commercial organizations to major government contractors supporting some of the nation's most important federal healthcare programs.
  • ACI is a small company where individual contributions matter. You'll work directly with experienced leaders, learn the business firsthand, and have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility as quickly as you're ready for it.
  • If you're successful in recruiting, staffing, client service, or B2B sales and feel ready for the opportunity to own more of the client relationship, we'd like to hear from you.
