Western Golf Association The Western Golf Association, headquartered in Glenview, Illinois, was founded in 1899 by 11 Chicago-area golf clubs. Established by famed amateur golfer Charles "Chick" Evans, Jr., the program provides full housing and tuition scholarships to deserving caddies across the country. Currently, 1,310 caddies are attending college on scholarship; there are 12,870 Evans Alumni. BMW Championship The BMW Championship dates back to 1899 when it debuted as the Western Open, making it the third-oldest tournament on the PGA TOUR schedule, behind only the British Open and U.S. Open. BMW has sponsored the tournament since 2007 when it became the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR's Fed ExCup Playoffs. The BMW Championship features a field of the top 50 players in the Fed ExCup standings to determine the final 30 players for the Fed ExCup finale at the TOUR Championship in Atlanta. Position Responsibilities: Amateur Golf Provide operational and administrative support to all four WGA amateur championships: Women's Western Junior Western Junior Women's Western Amateur Western Amateur Administrative duties include website management, registration packet assembly, printing/copying and proofreading Operational duties include transporting supplies to host facility, monitoring and maintaining equipment inventory and on-site set up and breakdown Work in conjunction with host club staff, WGA and WWGA Directors, members, volunteers, etc. Communicate with players, parents and coaches as necessary by phone and email Assist in processing player barbeque RSVPs, housing and transportation requests Coordinate volunteer assignments and provide instruction to volunteers Coordinate data entry into pairings and scoring program Assist PR Team with information and photos upon request Merchandise – BMW Championship Analyze data for assigned merchandise purchases Inventory, organize and distribute orders for WGA Directors and WGAESF staff Represent the tournament staff during volunteer training, and communicate regularly with the Merchandise committee volunteer chairperson Assist Merchandise Director with management of the BMW Championship Merchandise Pavilion, including: Coordinating vendor load-in and set-up Distributing vendor credentials and parking passes Assisting with visual merchandising Daily clean-up and organization Restocking and inventory management Volunteer communication, training and management Customer service and point of sale operations
Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree (complete or to be completed upon conclusion of the term)Internship or work experience in sports management, golf, and/or retail preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Golf Genius, Canva and InDesign are a plus Excellent "people" skills are a must Self-motivated, team player with the ability to establish strong working relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, vendors and volunteers Must possess strong organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required Ability to relocate and travel as necessary
