In this role you manage a diverse accounts receivable portfolio, focusing on large national customers. You will investigate credit issues, determine accounts for collection or hold, and prepare adjustments while maintaining thorough customer files. You will work with cross-functional teams to resolve disputes and improve recovery. Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of national accounts to collect outstanding receivables
- Investigate or refer credit issues for resolution
- Prepare monthly reports and maintain customer files
- Recommend accounts for collection agencies or credit holds; submit for management review
- Prepare and process accounts receivable adjustments
- Reconcile customer accounts and review contract terms for collections implications
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and IT to resolve collection actions
- Travel to customer sites as needed
- Assist in driving resolution of outstanding action items with Sales and Operations teams
- Review customer creditworthiness and determine accounts to place on credit hold
- Provide recommendations to legal for further action when applicable
Key requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar collections role
- Excellent customer service and telephone manners
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and interface with all management levels
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and customer procurement
- Knowledge of complex billing requirements and national accounts collections
- Proficiency in researching through internet tools
- Ability to handle difficult customer interactions and maintain relationships
- Experience in reviewing and reconciling customer accounts
