Apply for this role (opens in a new tab)Property Accountant We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join a growing real estate organization in Charlotte. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys owning the financial reporting process and wants to build or expand their experience within residential real estate and property accounting. The Property Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of residential operating properties, working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare monthly financial statements for residential operating properties, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Perform trial balance and general ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations
- Calculate and record management fees
- Reconcile accounts receivable and review aged delinquency reports
- Prepare mortgage interest, depreciation, and amortization accruals
- Review and edit accounts payable and assist with the approval and release of funds
- Process security deposit refunds for residential properties
- Maintain required escheat filings
- Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings
- Assist with additional accounting and financial reporting needs as required
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required 2-3 years of accounting experience
- Previous real estate, property accounting, or residential accounting experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and accounting responsibilities
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a broader accounting and operations team
