The Department of Communication & Digital Media at Simpson University invites applications for a full‑time Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication and Digital Media. The faculty member will teach in‑person courses that may include Oral Communication, Small Group, Communication Theory, Public Relations, Media & Culture, Communication Ethics, Nonverbal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Media Writing, Sports Communication, Advanced Public Communication, Communication & Organizational Leadership, and Communicating Cross Culturally. Depending on the candidate’s strengths, other courses may be taught including Argumentation & Debate, Philosophy & Critical Thought, Convergent Media, and Newspaper Practicum. A commitment to the integration of faith into teaching, scholarship, and service at a Christian liberal arts institution is an essential quality of Simpson University faculty.
Qualifications:
Terminal degree in Communication, Digital Media, or a related discipline. Master’s degree considered.
Evidence of teaching excellence utilizing a variety of teaching modalities.
Experience working with a diverse student population and a commitment to inclusion and belonging.
A personal commitment to Christ and an ability to integrate faith into teaching, scholarship and service at a Christian liberal arts institution.
A promising research agenda that supports undergraduate education is desirable.

Essential Functions:
Teach 12 units of undergraduate courses each fall and spring semester.
Prepare and teach undergraduate introductory and upper‑level communication and digital media courses.
Utilize Canvas for course management and delivery of content.
Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the communication and digital media major.
Provide department support for curriculum design, assessment of the degree program, and student recruitment.
Serve on faculty committees.
Attend department meetings and professional development activities.
Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting for long periods of time using a computer. Light lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional tasks requiring bending, reaching, and standing.
