Finishing Operator

Location: Worcester, MA Pay: $22.00 per hour Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m.

Position Summary: The Finishing Operator sets up and operates production equipment and uses hand tools to perform repetitive, high-volume finishing tasks. Work may include grinding, cutting to dimensions, dressing, speed testing, and light sandblasting. Products range from those in initial shaping through final finishing.

Responsibilities: Follow work orders, machine instructions, and direction from a supervisor or Finishing Operator II to determine product specifications, tooling, equipment, and work sequence. Select tooling and set up or adjust a limited variety of production machines using hand or power tools. Position workpieces and set machine controls to preselected operating settings. Operate finishing equipment, including sandblasters, speed testers, and balancers. Monitor machine operation, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments. Load and unload materials or workpieces manually or with hoists. Move parts and equipment to designated work areas using moving devices when applicable. Trim, scrape, shape, or deburr parts using hand tools as needed. Record product and processing information on forms or in computer systems. Ensure finished work meets quality requirements, with inspection by a supervisor or Finishing Operator II.

Qualifications: Excellent math skills. Ability to follow clear, well-defined work orders and machine instructions. Ability to work with manufactured products, including abrasive wheels, abrasive segments, ceramic finish, and kiln furniture. Ability to use hand or power tools and make basic adjustments to production equipment. Ability to handle materials and workpieces manually or with hoists.
