EHR Billing and Configuration Specialist

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Configure and maintain EHR and billing system settings, including fee schedules, charge codes, payer rules, and insurance information. Test system updates, patches, and configuration changes to identify and prevent billing and claim errors. Troubleshoot claim edits, NCCI edits, payer rejections, and clearinghouse issues. Prepare, review, and submit accurate electronic and paper claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers. Monitor claims, payments, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable aging. Investigate and resolve rejected or underpaid claims and submit appeals as needed. Maintain workflows for payment and remittance posting. Provide EHR and billing system training and technical support to staff. Help ensure billing processes comply with HIPAA, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer-specific requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma plus completion of a medical billing/coding programoran associate degree required. Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, healthcare administration, or a related field. Hands-on experience with EHR and/or medical billing system configuration. Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, insurance reimbursement, and claims processing. Experience with claim denials, appeals, and accounts receivable. Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate or bachelor's degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, business, or a related field. Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or similar coding certification. Experience with behavioral health, mental health, or substance use billing. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements. EHR system configuration credentials or experience.
