Engineer I Anniston AL Contract 1 st Shift, 4/40 Start Hours: 6am Pay Rate:33.53/Hr.
Position Summary: Engineer I Support the Combat Mission Systems' Paladin vehicle manufacturing program. Develop, implement, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems in a low-rate, automotive-style manufacturing environment. Ensure quality requirements are met throughout all assembly stages, including Engine Testing, Sub-assemblies, Main Line, Garage, Testing, and Paint & Processing. Serve as a liaison between production and quality teams to investigate, document, and resolve manufacturing issues. Drive continuous improvement through quality tools, data analytics, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
Requirements: Engineer I Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant quality engineering experience. Associate's degree and 4+ years of relevant quality engineering experience. High school diploma and 8+ years of relevant experience, including leadership or supervisory experience. Strong understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) principles. Experience working within ISO 9001 quality management systems. Root cause analysis and problem-solving experience in low-rate production environments. Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in manufacturing, production, assembly, or automotive environments with low-rate, high-complexity assemblies. Experience implementing and maintaining quality control protocols in an ISO 9001-certified environment. Experience using Pareto charts and other data analysis tools to identify defects and implement corrective actions. Experience leading cross-functional teams to resolve production and quality issues. Experience interpreting engineering blueprints and technical drawings to validate part conformance. For high school diploma candidates, leadership or supervisory experience managing quality workflows or personnel.
Responsibilities: Engineer I Develop and modify quality control protocols for in-process, partially finished, and finished tracked vehicle products. Validate processes, procedures, parts, and final vehicles to ensure conformance to engineering specifications and customer requirements. Monitor quality data and Pareto analyses to identify defect trends and nonconformities. Present findings to leadership and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams to resolve production bottlenecks and quality issues. Ensure manufacturing activities comply with ISO 9001 standards and internal quality governance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: Training or certification in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5-Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and 8D methodologies. Experience developing and maintaining PFMEA and PQCT documentation. Experience with GD&T and inspection program development using portable metrology tools such as Faro arms and laser trackers. Experience with ORACLE MRP systems and TIPQA quality tracking/documentation systems. Experience conducting ISO internal audits and Layered Process Audits (LPA). Experience leading cross-functional teams to close audit findings. Experience creating and improving work instructions for complex assembly processes.
