Senior Architect Location: Remote (Must reside in the U.S.)
Travel: Approximately 10–20%Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Architect with a strong background in healthcare architecture and modular/offsite construction to lead the design and technical execution of complex healthcare projects. This is a highly autonomous, remote opportunity for an architect who enjoys taking ownership, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The Senior Architect will work closely with healthcare clients, design consultants, modular manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure projects meet design, technical, regulatory, and construction requirements. The work is particularly meaningful, helping create and improve spaces designed to support cancer patients and critical healthcare treatment.
What You'll Do: Design & Technical Leadership Lead the architectural design and planning of modular healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and specialty medical buildings. Develop project concepts, layouts, and design strategies aligned with client goals and regulatory requirements. Coordinate architectural, structural, MEP, medical planning, and other specialty consultants. Provide technical leadership related to modular/offsite construction, prefabrication, and manufacturing coordination. Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, healthcare standards, life safety requirements, infection control standards, and patient-flow considerations. Review and approve construction documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability. Coordinate with modular manufacturers, equipment vendors, and other partners to maintain design intent. Review shop drawings, submittals, prototypes, mock-ups, and factory production for compliance. Support permitting and coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).Collaborate with project managers to align scope, schedule, budgets, and deliverables. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a primary architectural contact for healthcare clients and facility teams. Lead design meetings, presentations, and workshops. Coordinate with medical equipment planners and vendors to incorporate clinical requirements. Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies. Contract & Project Administration Develop consultant scopes of work for healthcare and modular projects. Prepare and review RFPs for design consultant services. Prepare and execute professional services proposals and consultant agreements. Review applications for payment and owner/consultant agreements. Support project financial and schedule-of-value coordination. Business Development Contribute technical expertise to healthcare and modular project pursuits. Assist with proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, and client interviews. Participate in preconstruction activities and provide technical insight during the pursuit process. Represent the organization at relevant industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
What We're Looking For: Registered Architect with 10+ years of professional experience. Significant experience in healthcare architecture and modular/offsite construction. Strong knowledge of healthcare design standards and regulations, including FGI Guidelines, NFPA, IBC, and related requirements. Advanced proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows. Experience with Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro or similar multidisciplinary coordination platforms. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam. Familiarity with project management and document control systems such as Procore or similar platforms. Strong understanding of construction documentation, specifications, and project delivery methods. Experience coordinating with manufacturing environments and modular production processes. Ability to lead complex projects and provide mentorship to junior team members. Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership in an entrepreneurial environment.
