Job Summary:
The Category Manager is responsible for performing contracting functions within Supply Chain. The primary responsibilities include managing processes surrounding contracts and other documents submitted for review, assessing documents against contracting compliance guidelines, and routing them to the appropriate parties for approval and signature. Under the direction of Supply Chain Leadership, the Category Manager plays an important role in mitigating organizational risk by requiring review and due diligence before advancing documents for signature.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, redline, process, and maintain contracts in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Draft, review, revise, and analyze contract documents under the direct supervision of Leadership.
Perform contracting for supplies and purchased services while adhering to requirements established by relevant internal departments.
Create, review, redline, execute, and maintain contract documents while meeting organizational requirements.
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to align with organizational objectives.
Maintain and utilize a current list of internal reviewers and stakeholders for category assignments.
Assist in the preparation of contracts and sourcing documents, including related research and value analysis through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across assigned categories.
Administer systems and processes used to track and manage documents submitted for processing.
Manage expectations and provide updates to clients, including senior leadership, as needed.
Navigate competing priorities and serve as a representative of the Supply Chain Department.
Ensure contract documents are maintained within the contract repository and related systems as required by department leadership.
Respond proactively to stakeholder and leadership requests in a timely manner.
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives.
Ensure contracting and sourcing activities meet and advance requirements of the supplier engagement program.
Serve as backup for other Category Managers and team members when required to facilitate consistent coverage.
Perform other duties as requested.
Maintain flexibility and adaptability as additional duties may arise based on organizational needs and evolving industry trends.
Required Experience:
2+ years of sourcing and contracting experience, including negotiating terms and conditions.
Required Skills:
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
Excellent project management and multitasking abilities.
Preferred Experience 3+ years of progressive experience in a healthcare setting autonomously leading various types of negotiations, solicitations, pricing agreements, and/or bid proposals.
Education
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Supply chain, contract negotiations, or sourcing experience may serve in lieu of a degree.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Preferred Certification:
- Certification in paralegal studies.
