A build-and-lead role driving growth across food, beverage and consumer goods, reporting to the VP of Sales.
Job Summary:
A well established flexible packaging manufacturer is hiring a US-based Director of Sales to build and lead its flexibles sales organization. They sell into the food, beverage and consumer goods markets and are investing in growth, so this is a build role rather than a caretaker seat. Reporting to the VP of Sales, you’ll set the vertical-market strategy, recruit and develop the sales team, and own the executive relationships with the biggest customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, lead and develop the flexibles sales team, recruiting, coaching and setting clear performance and development plans
- Develop and execute the sales strategy and lead vertical-market expansion across priority segments
- Drive organic growth, new customer acquisition and deeper relationships with existing accounts
- Build executive-level customer relationships and lead complex negotiations with margin discipline
- Partner with Business Development, Technology, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain, and support new product development
- Drive CRM discipline, forecasting and data-driven selling
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive sales experience, including leadership roles in packaging, converting or manufacturing
- A track record of driving growth in flexible packaging, converting or related markets
- Proven ability to build, lead and develop sales teams
- Strong strategic selling, negotiation and relationship management skills
- Knowledge of flexible packaging materials, structures, printing and converting preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
