Welder

Job TitleUses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components, fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products

Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding & submerged arc welding. Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Join pats such as beams &steel reinforcing rods in buildings, bolting and riveting as necessary Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment. Clean or degrease parts, using wire brushes and portable grinders or chemical baths.

Related Experience: Proficient with hand and power tools; Ability to read a tape measure; Attention to detail; General mathematical skills; General knowledge construction techniques and standards; Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks; keep up in a fast-paced environment; Ability to communicate technical information to team members and/or customers; Proficient understanding of engineering drawings and blueprints; Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills; Welding experience with modular buildings and solar power conversion skids Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
