We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team in skilled nursing facilities and long-term care settings. In this role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver high-quality, client-centered care that promotes independence and improves quality of life for diverse patient populations. Your expertise will help facilitate recovery, support daily living activities, and enhance overall well-being across inpatient and outpatient environments. Duties:
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to foster independence and improve functional outcomes
Implement treatment plans developed by occupational therapists, ensuring adherence to prescribed therapies and protocols
Support pediatric occupational therapy interventions for children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, or other childhood neurodevelopmental conditions
Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals such as physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and caregivers to coordinate comprehensive care strategies
Document patient progress accurately in care records while maintaining compliance with medical terminology standards and confidentiality regulations
Assist with patient transport within facilities or to external appointments while ensuring safety through manual handling techniques
Contribute to care documentation and communication efforts for home health, inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facility (SNF), or clinic settings
Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program
Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities or long-term care environments is highly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical imaging terminology, and treatment plan implementation
Experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or childhood developmental delays, geriatrics, or in inpatient/outpatient settings
Strong skills in caregiver and client communication to ensure clarity and support throughout therapy sessions
Ability to perform manual handling safely during patient transfers and mobility assistance
Familiarity with occupational therapy techniques for clients with neurodiverse needs and occupational health considerations
Excellent documentation skills aligned with healthcare standards and medical terminology familiarity
