Apply for this role →General Laborer / Baler This entry-level general laborer / baler role offers a wide variety of internal growth opportunities within a fast-paced production environment. The position focuses on safely moving and palletizing pre-wrapped bundles of paper bags at the end of a production conveyor line, while supporting overall material handling and housekeeping tasks. It is ideal for a motivated, safety-conscious, and mechanically inclined individual seeking a long-term career with clear advancement into machine operator and beyond.
Responsibilities:
Follow production orders to stack 1050 pound bundles of paper bags on pallets in an accurate and efficient manner. Wrap bundles securely using tape to ensure product stability and quality during handling and transport. Operate a manual pallet jack as needed to move pallets and materials around the production area. Sort, organize, and lift pallets to support smooth workflow and maintain orderly staging areas. Bale bundles from 35 machine lines per shift, monitoring output and maintaining consistent pace. Perform general housekeeping duties to keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards. Adhere to all safety and quality procedures and guidelines throughout the shift. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with production staff to support continuous operations. Carry out other duties as assigned to support production, material handling, and facility cleanliness. Essential Skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently throughout the shift. Ability to walk approximately 34 miles per shift in a production environment. Comfort and experience with manual labor and material handling tasks. Mechanically inclined, with the ability to learn and understand basic production machinery and processes. Open and flexible to work day, swing, and graveyard shifts with proper notice. Ability and desire to eventually move into a machine operator role. Safety-minded and quality-focused approach to all work activities. Capability to operate a manual pallet jack safely and effectively. Reliability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-output production setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in general labor, construction, production, or material handling is beneficial. Background in loading and unloading materials or working in warehouse or industrial environments is an asset. Comfort working on multiple machine lines in a shift and adapting to changing production needs. Ability to provide and wear steel-toed shoes as part of required personal protective equipment. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Willingness to learn new tasks and take on additional responsibilities as skills develop. Work Environment:
The role is based in a very clean and safe production facility with a strong emphasis on safety in all operations. The environment is fast-paced, with work performed on and around multiple bag production conveyor lines and baling stations. Shifts are structured as day (7:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.), swing (3:00 p.m. 11:00 p.m.), and graveyard (11:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m.), and candidates must be open to working all three with appropriate notice. Work involves standing, walking several miles per shift, lifting bundles up to 50 pounds, and operating manual pallet jacks. The facility promotes a culture of cleanliness, organization, and safety, and requires appropriate protective footwear, including steel-toed shoes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Beaverton, OR.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $23.80 - $23.80/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
