Water / Wastewater Plant Operator
Pay: $19.00- $22.00 per hour DOEPlant Operations Process Control NM Level 1 Certification Preferred On-call shifts required must be able to respond to call-ins within 60 minutes. Weekend and holiday availability required. We're looking for a reliable Water/Wastewater Plant Operator to operate and maintain treatment facilities, monitor equipment, collect samples, and perform routine laboratory tests. You'll control flow and treatment processes, maintain accurate shift logs, and respond to on-call situations promptly. This is a hands-on utility operations role with opportunities to grow your skills and certifications.
What You'll Do:
  • Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent
  • Operate valves, gates, pumps, engines, and generators manually or by remote control to adjust flow and treatment processes
  • Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels; observe and report abnormalities to supervisor
  • Maintain shift logs and record meter and gauge readings
  • Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses
  • Perform routine maintenance, equipment servicing, and custodial duties
  • Respond to on-call callouts within 60 minutes; work weekends and holidays as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • What You NeedHigh school diploma or GEDValid driver's license
  • General computer knowledge
  • Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts and respond within 60 minutes
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
Nice To Have:
  • New Mexico Level 1 certification in Water and/or Wastewater or ability to obtain within 1 year 2+ years of experience operating water and/or wastewater treatment plants
  • Knowledge of engines, pumps, related equipment, and basic biological/chemical principles
  • Ability to enter data into spreadsheets and data management systems
