Apply for this role (opens in a new tab)Lead Video Producer Salary Rage: $100k-115kAbout the RoleHolt Street is an EdTech company focusing on fostering learning and development for the K12 space. We are building Riptoes, a platform of short animated educational videos ("Riplets") for elementary students and the teachers who use them. We are building our first in-house production team and are looking for a Lead Video Producer. This individual will set the quality bar for content output and help lead other producers to do the same. You will start by running a small proof-of-concept pilot with the Director of Product Management, scaling how we make a Riplet well, and serving as the individual contributor lead for a team of junior producers and a learning designer. We use a mix of traditional editing tools and AI tools across the pipeline, so this role needs both strong craft and a sharp eye for working with AI.
What You'll Do:
You split your time between producing and leading. At full speed, about half your week goes to making videos end to end.
Content Production:
Create Riplets end-to-end: storyboard handoff, image and video generation, animation, voiceover, music scoring, and editing. Problem-solve for areas where AI breaks down, such as mechanics-heavy or athletic motion topics.
Set the Quality Standard:
Uphold the quality of content in accordance to our review rubric in: accuracy, appeal, engagement, and avoiding "AI slop."Catch visual and logic errors early (glitched faces, miscounted objects, impossible motion) and flag copyright risk in characters, music, and backgrounds. Run the first-pass review on every video so leadership sees each one once, not repeatedly.
Orchestration and Scaling:
Partner with the Director of Product Management to write the playbook for how we make and scale the content creation process.
Help build and develop a team of junior producers.
Work with the learning designer to optimize the storyboard writing and handoff direction to ensure consistency in quality output.
Help Manage the Production Process:
Manage the production queue and Frame.io triage, keeping production records current and feedback consolidated and de-duplicated. Work with the AI engineer and external production partners on pipeline tooling and handoffs.
What You Bring:
Required 6+ years producing animated or motion video, with a portfolio of finished work and experience leading or mentoring producers or editors.
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted production (image, video, voice, or music generation) and a clear view of where it breaks.
A strong editorial eye: you can spot a glitch, a continuity error, or a factual slip in a rough cut and explain how to fix it.
Comfort running a review process: giving specific feedback, consolidating comments from several reviewers, and holding a quality line.
Fluency with professional editing, animation, and audio tools, and with review tools like Frame.io.
Clear writing: you can document a process so someone else can run it.
Preferred:
Experience producing educational, children's, or K-12 content, or a strong feel for what holds a 7–10-year-old's attention.
Experience building a production pipeline or team from scratch at a startup or small studio.
Familiarity with Airtable, JIRA, or similar tracking tools, and with storyboard-to-animation workflows.
Working knowledge of copyright and licensing for music, characters, and visual assets.
Both 3D and 2D animation exposure; our visual style may evolve.
Willingness to travel as needed for partner meetings, kickoffs, conferences, and team events.
