Tax Director

Role Description: The Tax Director is a full-time, on-site role based in High Point, NC. This position oversees tax compliance and planning for individual and business clients, including reviewing complex returns, ensuring accurate tax preparation, and monitoring adherence to current tax laws and regulations. The Tax Director will manage and mentor tax staff, allocate work, review engagements for quality and efficiency, and support professional development within the team. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising clients on tax strategies, responding to tax authority inquiries, collaborating with accounting colleagues on integrated engagements, and contributing to firm-wide process improvements. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge, identifying opportunities for additional services, and supporting client relationship management.

Qualifications: Strong expertise in Tax Compliance and Tax Preparation, with a track record of accurate and timely filings. Comprehensive knowledge of Tax and Tax Law, including current federal and state regulations and planning strategies. Solid Accounting skills to interpret financial statements and integrate tax planning with broader financial goals. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required; advanced tax certifications or a master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting are a plus. Several years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities. Proficiency with tax and accounting software. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines. Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients and team members.
