Library Circulation Assistant (Fall 2026)

Duties: Provide face-to-face customer service to library patrons. Daily tasks may include:loaning/returning books and equipmentopening and/or closing the librarynavigating the SUNY Cortland website and my Red Dragon to find informationanswering telephonesanswering directional questionsshelving bookstroubleshoot WEPA print stationsinstructing customers in use of library equipment Days/Hours Needed Hours of coverage coincide with Memorial Library's hours of operation, which are subject to change. Based on the current hours of operation, coverage is required for the following: Monday: 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 9pm-12am (2 openings)Tuesday: 11am-1pm (2 openings), 1-3pm, 9pm-12am Wednesday: 9-11am, 9pm-12am Thursday: 11am-1pm (2 openings), 9pm-12am Friday: 9-11am, 11am-1pm Saturday: 3-6pm These are recurring weekly shifts for the remainder of the semester. Study Days and Finals Week require extended hours. Campus Location/Bldg. Circulation/Memorial Library

Required Qualifications: Must be a current SUNY Cortland student Reliability and punctuality Friendly, patience, eagerness to provide excellent customer service Willingness to learn and assist customers with new technologies Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: Experience using my Red Dragon Experience working in a library or similar setting Experience providing customer service

Physical Demands: Ability to push and pull loaded book trucks and to lift 20 pounds Special Conditions for Eligibility Must be willing to work weekends and late nights.
