Prime Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/16/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU / Respiratory Care Unit Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL Contract: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights | 3×12-hour shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as needed Charting System: Epic Position Overview Seeking experienced ICU Registered Nurses for its high-acuity Respiratory Care Unit. Candidates must have strong critical care assessment skills and recent experience caring for acutely and chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support. Trauma and stroke experience are required.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in a high-acuity respiratory care and step-down setting. Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, identifying and escalating changes promptly. Care for patients requiring ventilator support and management of complex medical conditions. Apply critical care nursing skills in trauma and neurological patient care. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans. Administer medications and treatments and monitor patient responses. Maintain accurate documentation using Epic. Follow patient safety, infection prevention, and facility protocols. Float as needed to support facility staffing requirements. Participate in holiday coverage and overtime as required.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of recent critical care experience. Recent experience caring for acute and chronically ill patients requiring ventilator support. Trauma and stroke experience required. Strong critical care assessment skills. Willingness to work in a step-down setting with patient ratios up to 4:1, depending on staffing. Epic experience required. Active Florida or Compact RN license in hand. BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association. NIH certification required and must be available at submission. Nursing degree from an accredited institution; additional Florida Board of Nursing approval and recent acute-care experience requirements may apply where specified by the facility.
