Help bridge the digital literacy divide in our community. The Hayward Public Library offers classes to bridge the digital literacy divide. These classes teach adults computer basics from parts of a computer to internet safety. Having digital literacy skills can greatly improve a person's quality of life and is essential to being an active participant in today's technologically advancing world. Volunteers may lead either the 6-week long Digital Literacy 101 class or the Weekend Google Workshops. All sessions are at the Downtown Hayward Library.
Requirements: This position requires a person with the following knowledge and skills: The ability to communicate effectively and patiently with adults and seniors of all backgrounds, and library personnel. Familiarity with wi-fi hotspots, tablets, laptops, and Chromebooks Sufficient grasp of basic computer & digital literacy concepts Familiarity with programs, such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office Self-motivation/direction Sensitivity to diverse cultures and populations 18 years old or above Live Scan background check
