A Tampa-based contract manufacturer is seeking an experienced facilities consultant for an intensive assessment and design sprint, starting as soon as possible. The company manufactures products across personal care, pet care, supplements, and OTC categories. It is optimizing its current operations and planning how best to coordinate them with an adjacent facility used by an affiliated business for spray drying and storage. Facilities Contract manufacturing facility: approximately 6,000 sq. ft. Adjacent spray drying and storage facility: approximately 4,000 sq. ft. On-site work in Tampa: approximately 4–5 days, with design and reporting work completed remotely as appropriate The assignment Assess equipment, production capacity, workflows, utilities, labor needs, and facility constraints. Develop an actionable layout and operating plan for the existing facilities, with recommendations for future growth and equipment additions. Key deliverables Inventory of existing and planned equipment, including footprints and utility needs Current capacity analysis and future output projections by process or product category Bottleneck, workflow, and material-flow assessment Optimized facility layouts, including 2D and 3D CADProposed zones for production, staging, storage, shipping, offices, changing, conference, and QA/testing Utility and infrastructure recommendations, including identified gaps where assessable Labor and automation recommendations, including practical ROI analysis Regulatory design assessment and inspection-readiness recommendations for relevant FDA, GMP, and OTC requirements Phased implementation plan, estimated capital needs, timeline, and risk assessment Ideal experience 15+ years in manufacturing facility design or operations engineering Experience designing or optimizing contract manufacturing facilities Strong working knowledge of applicable FDA, GMP, and OTC requirements Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent 2D/3D design tools Experience with equipment assessment, capacity modeling, and bottleneck analysis Background in personal care, pet care, supplements, OTC, spray drying, or similar operations Ability to work independently and deliver practical recommendations on a short timeline Lean or Six Sigma credentials, regulatory auditing experience, and warehouse or fulfillment optimization experience are a plus.
