Role Description: Principal Investigator role at our new North Tampa location. This would be onsite 2-3 days per week and include clinical oversight, medical assessments ie. lab review, physical exams, and psychiatric rating scales in the context of our ongoing clinical research studies. It could be done in tandem with another position or in parallel with private practice. The Principal Investigator will oversee and lead clinical research studies conducted at the neuropsychiatric clinical trials site in Tampa, FL. This part-time, on-site role includes responsibility for study protocol adherence, medical oversight of participants, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all study participants. The Principal Investigator will review and approve informed consent documents, assess participant eligibility, conduct or supervise key clinical assessments, and monitor adverse events. The role also involves collaborating with study coordinators and other research staff, maintaining regulatory and ethical compliance, and communicating with sponsors, monitors, and institutional review boards as needed. The Principal Investigator will contribute to data integrity, documentation accuracy, and continuous improvement of research processes.
Qualifications: Advanced clinical training and licensure (e.g., MD or DO in Psychiatry, Neurology, or related specialty) with licensure to practice in Florida. Experience in clinical research, preferably in neuropsychiatric or central nervous system disorders, including familiarity with clinical trial protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Strong skills in patient evaluation, diagnostic assessment, and risk-benefit analysis for individuals with depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar disorder, peripartum mood disorders, and Alzheimer’s disease. Ability to lead multidisciplinary research teams, provide clear guidance to coordinators and staff, and collaborate effectively with sponsors and regulatory bodies. Proficient in documentation, medical record review, and maintaining accurate study data in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. Excellent communication skills for explaining study procedures to participants, obtaining informed consent, and addressing patient and family questions with empathy and clarity. Commitment to patient-centered care, equity in research participation, and adherence to ethical principles in clinical trials.
