Apply for this role →Position Specifications The Animal Science Department in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State is seeking a Horse Farm Manager. The position will be responsible for daily care and management of a herd of 70+ horses used for teaching, research and extension programs.
Responsibilities:
Work with faculty coordinator and veterinarian to manage the breeding program which include semen collection, processing and shipment, breeding mares.
Direct and supervise one full time farm technician position.
Hire, train and supervise several part time student employees.
Assist faculty with preparation and presentation of various classes and labs.
Assist with equine research and extension programming.
Required Qualifications:
Three years of equine and farm management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ability to communicate effectively with staff and students is necessary.
Basic computer and record keeping skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in animal or equine science is preferred.

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.
A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Salary & Benefits:
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $54,060.00 - $78,444.00.
