Job Summary: The Congenital CMV Surveillance Epidemiologist exists to coordinate and conduct medical record abstraction, collect and enter data, assist with data cleaning, data management, data reporting, and data analysis activities, and complete longitudinal follow-up (LFU) activities for infants and children identified with congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) and other conditions included on the Minnesota newborn screening (NBS) panel. The incumbent ensures data integrity and quality (complete, accurate and timely data) and supports the implementation of statewide cCMV and NBS surveillance and follow-up activities for the longitudinal follow-up unit and children and youth with special health needs (CYSHN) section. This position is temporary in nature and could be ended at any time. The anticipated end date is 07/31/2029.In accordance with HR/LR Policy #1422 Telework, this position is eligible for up to 50% telework for applicants who live in Minnesota or in a bordering state within 50 miles of the assigned work location. The telework policy may exempt employees who live more than 50 miles from their primary work location from the 50% in-office requirement, depending on job requirements, helping the State of Minnesota access top talent across the state.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Eighteen (18) months of experience designing and conducting epidemiologic investigations and/or surveillance. Experience must include the following: Experience utilizing medical records and/or performing abstractions to conduct epidemiologic investigations or surveillance activities. Demonstrated experience in data entry, data management, data analysis, and survey or statistical software such as Microsoft Excel, Red Cap, SAS or R. Degree EquivalenciesA related degree may substitute for required experience as follows: Doctorate may substitute for two (2) years of experience. Master's degree or JD may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience. Bachelor's degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience. Associate's degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of and experience working in the Minnesota Electronic Disease Surveillance System (MEDSS). Knowledge of cCMV or other infectious disease pathologies. Knowledge of the CYSHN Program. Knowledge of social determinants of health. Knowledge and appreciation for cultural differences.
Additional Requirements: This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
