This position is focused on the operation, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS, CEMS, instrumentation, controls and electrical systems across plant equipment. This Instrument & Control Technician II role is suited to an experienced power plant or industrial instrumentation, controls, electrical or electronics technician who can work safely, make maintenance decisions with limited supervision and support both routine and non-routine plant maintenance. Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems using installed and portable test equipment, technical manuals and drawings. Support the operation, testing and maintenance of DCS, CEMS and associated field devices. Perform routine and non-routine preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment. Review P&IDs, logic diagrams, control drawings and system procedures. Prepare and maintain calibration, testing, certification and maintenance documentation. Create and support procedures relating to instrumentation and electrical systems. Assist with job planning, work methods, reporting, plant support tasks and site maintenance as required. Operate plant mobile equipment such as forklifts and man lifts where required. Support responsibilities outside scheduled working hours when needed, with occasional travel required. Instrumentation Technician Requirements: A two-year technical degree and at least 5 years of power plant and/or industrial electrical, instrumentation or electronics experience. Significant power plant, industrial electrical or electronics experience may be considered in place of a degree. Experience with Distributed Control Systems, CEMS, PLCs and power plant control equipment. Experience with GE Mark VI, ABB Bailey INFI 90, Teledyne Monitor Labs CEMS controls or similar systems is preferred. Ability to interpret control drawings, P&IDs and logic diagrams. Knowledge of instrumentation test equipment, signal generators, relay test sets, oscilloscopes and computer-based systems. Working knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, electrical principles, work practices and procedures. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organisational and communication skills. Ability to use Word, Excel, Power Point and other computer-based programs. Valid U.S. driver’s license with acceptable MVR history, where applicable. The Instrument & Control Technician II must be comfortable working in a power plant environment, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, climbing ladders and wearing required PPE.
