This position is 100% on site, located in Rochester, New York The Assistant Director directs the planning, implementation, coordination, operation and evaluation of the University Benefits Program as part of the University's strategic planning. Provides day-to-day direction and supervision of the activities and operations of the Benefits Office, including management of the functions of one or more areas of the benefits program and the division. Assists in overall development and management of the University Benefits Program and the Benefits Office. Provides professional direction to staff.
Essential Functions: Directs the day-to-day operations of the Benefits Office and assumes full management responsibility in the Director's absence. Leads and counsels staff by developing talent, setting clear performance goals, recognizing contributions, and addressing low performance. Recommends and implements operational changes to improve department effectiveness. Oversees benefit plans, practices, and procedures to keep offerings competitive. Monitors how plans operate and how faculty, staff, and retirees respond to them, evaluates effectiveness, and recommends changes to plans, policies, and procedures. Promotes benefit programs and explains plans, policies, and services to the University community, with an emphasis on resolving individual and group concerns. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data for special projects. Stays current on trends affecting the Benefits Program, including changes in state and federal legislation. Performs other duties as assigned.
